You are allowed to Brown Bag (bring your own) alcohol at most restaurants. You may want to purchase any alcohol before you get to Cashiers. The “last chances” for alcohol retail sales are in Walhalla, SC coming from the South, Brevard coming from the East, Sylva coming from the North, and Highlands coming from the West.** |

| April weather in Cashiers (elevation 3400’) can be a daily surprise, ranging from cool temperatures (30-40 degrees F.) at night, to warm temperatures (60-80 degrees F.) during the day. We recommend being prepared for both, and bringing a raincoat and umbrella. With that said, please dress comfortably for the wedding ceremony and reception, as both will be held outside. | ||||||
| ACTIVITIES | ||||||
| Hiking The beauty of Southern Appalachia is on display in Cashiers with beautiful waterfalls, rock face mountains, and long range vistas. Being surrounded by National Forest land, Cashiers has numerous trails discovering all of these natural wonders. Visit The Highland Hiker at the crossroads to get ideas about where to hike, based on your skill level and time restraints. **Chad will be leading a group hike up Chimneytop Mountain (where Holly said “yes”) on Saturday morning. Ask Chad on Friday night for more information.** Golf Cashiers is a golfing mecca. However, most of the golf courses in the area are private. High Hampton (828-743-2450), Sapphire Mountain (828-743-1174), and Red Bird Golf Links (828-743-1991) are open to the public. Shopping There are numerous shops and antique stores in Cashiers and even more in Highlands (approximately 20 minutes west on Highway 64). |

| While Cashiers is a small village, it can be found on most paper maps. You may obtain directions on how to get here from Mapquest or other websites. Some points of interest for the weekend include the following: High Hampton Inn and Country Club (Rehearsal Dinner Site) Highway 107 South in Cashiers approximately two miles from the crossroads on the left, just past the Episcopal Church. Fairfield Lake (Wedding Ceremony Site) Highway 64 East in Sapphire Valley approximately 3.5 Miles from the crossroads. Turn left at sign just past Camp Merrie-Woode (across the highway from The Oasis Restaurant and Gas Station). Approximately ½ mile East of Hampton Inn. **In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held under the tent at The Orchard Restaurant. If you are questionable about the weather, please call 828-743-1989 for a recorded message by 4:00 P.M. the day of the wedding.** The Orchard Restaurant (Wedding Reception Site) Highway 107 South in Cashiers approximately one mile from the crossroads on the left, directly across the street from the Methodist Church. |
